IT’S ONLY A PLAY – CASTING BRIEF
Written by Terrence McNally
Directed by Greg Karvellas
Eric Abraham presents a Fugard Theatre production of Terrence McNally’s hilarious comedy It’s Only A Play.
Written by four-time Tony Award winner Terrence McNally, It’s Only A Play is a celebration of theatre at its best and theatre people behaving their not-so-best and proves that sometimes the biggest laughs happen offstage.
It’s opening night of writer Peter Austin’s new play as he anxiously awaits the reviews from the New York critics. With his career on the line, he shares his big first night with his “best” friend, a television star, his novice producer, his doped-up diva actress, his genius director, a lethal drama critic and a fresh-off-the-bus coat check attendant on his first night in Manhattan. This raucous, ridiculous and tender comedy is a reminder that there’s no business like show business.
